Implant Restorations
Do you ever feel self-conscious about missing teeth? If so, it’s time to schedule an appointment with one of our dental implant dentists in Ann Arbor, MI. During your consultation, they’ll be able to determine if you’re a candidate for implant restorations so you can start smiling with confidence. We also offer implant-supported dentures if you need to replace an entire arch of teeth.
In the meantime, here’s what you need to know about the dental implant procedure.
What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth root that’s made out of a titanium alloy. During the dental implant procedure, the doctor places the implant deep in your jawbone where it fuses to the bone over the course of several months.
Once you’re completely healed, you’ll return to our office where one of our dentists will place the abutment and dental crown on top. This restoration will give you the full appearance and function of a natural tooth.
Am I a Candidate for Implant Restorations?
You may be a candidate for dental implants if you have sufficient bone density in your jaw for the doctor to place the titanium rods. In general, it’s also ideal if you’re a non-smoker since smoking inhibits the body’s natural ability to heal itself after dental implant surgery.
Keep in mind that even if you don’t have enough bone density in your jaw, you may still be a candidate for dental implant restorations. Some patients are able to get a bone graft that augments their natural bone tissue. To truly know if you’re a candidate for any of the above procedures, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with our dental implant dentists.
